Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Sharad Pawar said the issue of unity among allies was discussed during a meeting with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), of which his party is a constituent along with the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Congress, should work unitedly, even if there are differences among allies. . Opinion.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Pawar said the issue of unity among allies came up for discussion during a meeting with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday.

Pawar said that some programs have been fixed for the unity of the alliance.

“Everyone should participate in these programmes. This is the policy we agreed upon yesterday,” he said.

The meeting between Pawar and Thackeray came days after the NCP chief supported a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe by a Supreme Court panel into allegations against the Adani group.

Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) are pushing for JPC probe.

Pawar had earlier said that though the NCP does not agree with the anti-BJP parties’ demand for a JPC probe, it will not go against their stand for opposition unity.

Pawar had said that if the JPC is formed, considering the BJP’s strength in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the ruling party would have 14-15 members in the panel, while the opposition would have five to six MPs.

“The panel will also be headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). So who will control the panel and what will be its impact on the report?” Pawar had asked while seeking to drive home the point that the scope of the parliamentary inquiry committee would be limited.

The NCP leader said that instead, a Supreme Court-appointed panel should probe the issue.

In an interview with a Marathi news channel aired on Tuesday, Pawar said that Thackeray had quit as chief minister (in June 2022) without consulting MVA constituents.
