UP Kushinagar News: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the police to take strict action against those involved in the murder of a Muslim man in Kushinagar district. The dead man, identified as Babar, was allegedly lynched by his neighbors for supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and distributing sweets after the party’s election victory in the state.

According to the police, two accused have been arrested so far and massive raids are being conducted to nab the remaining absconding criminals.

Danish Ansari, the only Muslim minister in the Yogi Adityanath government, told India TV that the Yogi government was with Babar’s family and promised that those involved in the crime would face the heat. He also said that the government will soon announce a relief package for the family.

“Yogi ji is with the family, he is not alone. Strict action will be taken against the accused. Criminals will reconsider committing such crimes. Zero tolerance against crime in Uttar Pradesh… This is Yogi’s Uttar Pradesh. .. peace will prevail,” he said.

According to the family of the slain man, he was returning from his shop on March 20 when he chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and was attacked by some locals. Babur climbed to his roof to save his life, but the accused reached there and pushed him off the roof. He was admitted to Ramkola CHC from where he was referred to the district hospital and then to Lucknow. Babur died during treatment in Lucknow.

Family members said that locals in their community had warned Babar against campaigning for the BJP and celebrating its victory. Babur had earlier sought protection from the Ramkola police but his request was unheeded.
