Muralikrishnan B promoted as new president of Xiaomi India, replacing Manu Kumar Jain

Xiaomi India has officially confirmed that Muralikrishnan B is now the new president of Xiaomi India, having taken over the reins from Manu Kumar Jain, who now heads the company’s global division. Muralikrishnan B will preside over his new role from August 1.

He has been working as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Xiaomi India since 2018, but in the recent past, he has been instrumental at launch events and even speaking to the press.

“Muralikrishnan will be responsible for day-to-day operations, services, public affairs, strategic projects and will continue to work towards strengthening the company’s commitment to the Make in India and Digital India initiatives,” the company said in a statement. “

Muralikrishnan is an alumnus of IIM-Calcutta, and comes with a vast experience of over 25 years in the consumer tech sector. He has been credited for Xiaomi’s growth in offline sales, service and operations etc.

Manu Kumar Jain has been the head of Xiaomi in India for many years. He took over after Hugo Barra moved to new pastures. Since then, Jain has been instrumental in the rise of the brand to become a leading name in various categories. But since joining the global team, Xiaomi has undergone several management changes in India.

It appointed Alvin Tse as general manager last month. Anuj Sharma was brought back as the Chief Marketing Officer of the company. “They are independently leading the India business and will continue to be a strong driving force behind the brand,” the company said in a statement.
