Mumbai to Face Ahmedabad in The Opening Match of WPL 2023 on March 4: Report

While an official announcement is awaited, a report claims that the season is expected to start in the first week of March

The BCCI has finalized the schedule of its inaugural Women’s Premier League with Mumbai and Ahmedabad to kickstart the much-anticipated T20 tournament at the DY Patil Stadium on March 4. Last month, the BCCI announced that the combined bids received for the five teams were higher than those received for the eight original Indian Premier League teams in 2008.

according to a report in CricbuzzThe WPL will be held from March 4 to March 26 and all its 22 league matches will be played at this ground in Mumbai.

The top-three teams from the league stage will advance. The team at the top of the standings will directly enter the final while the next two will face off in an eliminator for the second spot.

The eliminator is reportedly scheduled for March 24 and the final for March 26.

The second match of the season will be between Bengaluru and Delhi on March 5 which will be a double header as Lucknow will also start their campaign against Ahmedabad on the same day.

The report further states that the BCCI has asked all the five owners to sign the franchise agreement on Friday.

Meanwhile, around 1000 cricketers have put their names up for auction for the inaugural season of WPL.
