Mumbai: Mumbai Police Rescued a nine-year-old girl, who was allegedly forced to do domestic work, and arrested a businessman, who had brought the minor from Bihar to work at his home, an official said on Thursday.
According to the police, the accused Irfan Haider (29) and his mother had brought the girl here two months ago from Muzaffarpur in Bihar to do domestic work.
Police recently found a video in which the girl is seen cleaning the stairs and removing the garbage from the man’s two-storey house. Netaji Nagar in suburban santa cruz, said the officer.
Inspector Manoj Shinde said, “After watching the video, we were shocked that a nine-year-old child was hired for a family of six. We tried to contact the child’s mother in Bihar, but could not get through to her. Could be.” From Plaster The police station here said.

Further, the man’s mother told the police that the girl’s mother had voluntarily handed it over to them as the child’s father was an alcoholic and would kill him.

The Vakola police on Thursday arrested Haider under relevant sections of the Child Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, while his mother is wanted in the case, the official said.
