Mumbai-Nagpur bus fire: CM Eknath Shinde, deputy Fadnavis reaches at accident site

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Sinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reached the accident site on the Samridhi Mahamarg Expressway.

In a tragic incident, an AC bus caught fire and turned to ashes on the Samruddhi Expressway near Raja town at Sindkhed, in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, late on Friday night. The bus was going from Nagpur to Pune with 25 passengers including the driver.

Buldhana’s SP Sunil Kadasen told that the incident took place late on Friday at around 2 pm. There were a total of 33 people in the bus. Out of which 25 passengers died. While 8 people have been injured. The injured are being admitted to Buldhana Civil Hospital. The driver of the bus is safe.

The bus driver told the police that he was taking passengers from Yavatmal to Pune. The bus overturned due to a sudden tire burst on the Samruddhi Expressway, causing the bus to catch fire. The accident happened when most of the passengers were sleeping. They didn’t even get a chance to leave.
