Mumbai: Man stabbed to death after assault in local train at Mankhurd railway bridge

A 29-year-old man died after an altercation in a suburban local train at Mankhurd railway station in Mumbai on Saturday. The accused, who has a long criminal record, was arrested by the Mumbai Police’s crime branch within six hours of the incident, an official said.

Deepak Chandrakant Hire (29) was stabbed to death on the steps of the railway bridge at Mankhurd station in the early hours, they said. The accused had a heated argument with the accused in the luggage compartment of the local hired train before the two got down, the official said. The accused chased Haier and stabbed him before fleeing.

Unit-6 of the Crime Branch scanned the CCTV footage, which showed an argument between the victim and the accused. The official said the accused was identified as a history-sheeter, who lived in Kharghar area of ​​Navi Mumbai. He was nabbed from Kopra village in Kharghar and investigation is on, the official said.
