Australia captain had to return home after the conclusion of the second test against Pat Cummins India To be with his ailing mother in Delhi. He was supposed to be back with the team in Indore, but the home quarantine period was extended, making him unavailable for the third Test. A heart-wrenching video surfaced on the Twitter handle of famous England supporters group Barmy Army on Saturday, in which a trumpeter was seen singing ‘Maria from West Side Story’ during England’s second Test against New Zealand to support Cummins’ mother. ‘ can be seen playing the tune. who have recently entered palliative care,

Responding to the video, the Australian captain on Monday said: “It’s amazing @TheBarmyArmy, thank you. It was great to see mum and she loved it”.

After Australia’s defeat in the second Test against India, Cummins left for Sydney to be with his mother and will miss the third Test starting March 1 in Indore.

In the absence of regular captain Cummins, Steve Smith will take over the responsibility of captaincy in the third Test.

After losing the First Test in Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs within three days, Australia lost the Second Test to India in New Delhi by six wickets, which meant that their chances of winning the Test series were over as India won the Border- Gavaskar Trophy.

Now trailing 2-0, Australia will now face India in the third Test starting from March 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
