According to a forest official, the tiger was expected to cross the Theppakadu-Masinagudi road on Thursday night after the tiger’s movements were caught in a camera trap located inside. Masinagudi and Singara forest range in MTR buffer zone. Operation teams consisting of 30 personnel were deputed to monitor the movement of the tiger in that area.
A forest official said, “The tiger showed signs of its presence in the area late in the night, but did not emerge.”
On Friday morning, when the tiger crossed the Masinagudi road, the operation teams of forest veterinarians fired at least four darts. One was successful. However, the tiger escaped and went into a bush. It took about five hours for the teams to locate and secure the tiger.
The top forest officials were yet to decide on the future operations.
