New Delhi. Ashwini Vaishnav, 51, born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, has been sworn in as 40 railway ministers of the country along with getting a place in the Union Cabinet. Vaishnav is a 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Odisha cadre. He did his MTech from IIT Kanpur in 1994.
Vaishnav, who reached Rajya Sabha on BJP ticket from Odisha two years ago, has mastered many disciplines. During his journey as an engineer, CEO, IAS officer, entrepreneur and then politician, he worked on many important fronts. He becomes the master of the PPP model.
Vaishnav left the government job in 2008 and did his MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA. After returning back to the country, served in some big companies. Then set up manufacturing units of auto accessories in Gujarat. He was also nominated as a member of the Press Council of India.
Ashwini Vaishnav was created in the Modi government at a time when the railway system is in disarray amidst the corona transition. The trains being run by making special are inflicting deep wounds on the expectations of the passengers, while the railway workers are constantly falling prey to infection. The Federation is also looking towards the Ministry for the reasonable demands of the railway workers. In many zones, GM is running on charge. Dealing with these challenges will be a test of Vaishnav’s technical and managerial ability.
