MS Dhoni has been sensational with the bat in IPL 2023 for CSK despite batting lower down the order

It is no secret that MS Dhoni is playing for Chennai Super Kings with a knee injury during IPL 2023. This has limited his mobility and his role with the bat has been modified to that of a finisher who plays only a few balls towards the end of CSK’s innings.

It is another matter that Dhoni has played the role with a strike rate of over 200.

Earlier this season, a video was shared on social media in which Dhoni can be seen limping. And shared a picture with former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan on Thursday Work wearing a knee brace.

The 41-year-old has not allowed the injury to affect his CSK or his performances.

Former India fast bowler and Dhoni’s teammate S Sreesanth has claimed that the wicketkeeper-batsman never takes painkillers.

“Dhoni never takes painkillers. Whenever we asked him why he does this, he said, ‘He doesn’t want to show that he is in pain.’ He just wants to bring the cup to Chennai,” said Sreesanth Star Sports.

Dhoni scored 96 off 47 balls, which included three fours and 10 sixes.

On Wednesday, on a challenging Chepauk pitch, he played another brilliant hand scoring 20 off 9 balls to propel CSK to 167/8 against Delhi Capitals, which proved more than enough for them to defend successfully.

Why did Dhoni retire from international cricket? Many players play till the age of 42 and he is just 41. In Kerala they say, ‘Oh God, Dhoni is doing this again and again?” Sreesanth said.

Dhoni himself has admitted that if he does come out to bat, his role is only to score late runs.

“That’s my job. I’ve told them (the team) this is what I want to do, don’t rush me too much and it’s working. The others are doing their job. And I’ve said that’s what I need to do. I will be happy to contribute whatever delivery is coming my way. I am practicing accordingly. I am practicing whatever I can get in the game. It helps me to perform ,” Dhoni said on Wednesday.
