CSK coach Stephen Fleming confirmed that MS Dhoni was down with a knee injury during Chennai Super Kings’ 3-run loss to Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023.

‘Thala’ Dhoni could only collect one and CSK suffered their second defeat of the IPL 2023 season, however, what will worry fans more is that their legendary skipper is not at his peak fitness.

“He is nursing a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movements. It is hampering him to some extent. His fitness has always been very professional. He comes a month before the start of the tournament . He’s a great player. We never doubted that. He’s amazing,” Fleming said at the post-match press conference.

Despite nursing a knee problem, Dhoni played a quickfire 32 off only 17 balls, but CSK eventually lost by a very close margin.

While Fleming confirmed the knee issue troubling Dhoni, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman is unlikely to miss any games for CSK as the coach did not mention about the severity of the injury.

Chennai Super Kings return to action on Monday, April 17, when they travel to Bengaluru to take on Royal Challengers Bangalore.
