MS Dhoni played the entire IPL 2024 with pain and a call on whether he continues playing for CSK next year as well may depend on his fitness level.

With Chennai Super Kings’ elimination from IPL 2024, speculations are rife over the future of their icon MS Dhoni. The former CSK captain played in all 14 of their matches during the season despite battling fitness concerns.

Fitness will be key to Dhoni’s future but the legendary cricketer hasn’t revealed his plan to CSK management yet.

“He has not told us anything. He does not tell us such things anyway. He just decides,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was quoted as saying Cricbuzz.

As per the report, the 42-year-old will have to take a call soon enough since a mega auction has been planned before the next IPL season and the franchises will have to announce their retentions by the second half of 2024.

CSK lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday night which ended their hopes of making it to the IPL 2024 playoffs.

As per reports, Dhoni has already reached his hometown Ranchi but no discussions regarding his future have taken place with the CSK management as of yet.

Dhoni scored 161 runs from 11 innings at an average of 53.66 and a strike-rate of 220.54. He often came to bat during the far end of innings and mostly batted in the lower order.

“The way he batted, he can surely continue. But it will be up to him,” Viswanathan said.
