MP Tragedy: 4 Lives Lost, 20 Injured in Tractor Mishap

Police reported that a tragic accident occurred in the Datia district of MP, in the early hours of Friday, resulting in the death of four individuals, including two girls and two women, and injuring 20 others. The incident occurred when a tractor-trolley, transporting devotees to a temple, overturned.

A police official stated that the victims were on route to the Ratangarh Mata shrine when the accident occurred near Maithana Pali around 4:30 am.

The official reported that the vehicle veered off the road, plunging 15 feet into a culvert, resulting in the loss of lives of two girls and two women. Datia Superintendent of Police Virendra Mishra stated that the cause of the incident remains unknown. Additionally, Mishra added that they referred an injured girl to Gwalior for treatment and transported another to Jhansi.

Bhander Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Karnik Shrivastava stated that prima facie evidence suggests that the tractor-trolley driver dozed off, leading to the accident. The official identified the deceased as Sonam (11), Kranti (17), Seema (30), Kamni (19), and Roshni (17). In-charge collector Kamlesh Bhargava and Superintendent of Police (SP) Virendra Mishra also visited the accident spot.

The SDOP mentioned that among the injured, 17 individuals have been admitted to the Datia district hospital, while two have been referred to Gwalior and one to Jhansi.

An official reported that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the death of five persons in the road accident in Datia.
