MP: Stone pelting, arson on Ram Navami procession in Khargone, curfew in three areas

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday imposed curfew in three areas of Khargone and Section 144 of CrPC in the entire city after stone-pelting during Ram Navami procession.

There were incidents of arson due to stone pelting, in which some vehicles were torched. Police fired tear gas shells to control the situation. news agency PTI reported.

Khargone Superintendent of Police Siddharth Choudhary and two police personnel were injured in stone pelting along with some others.

Khargone District Collector Anugrah P said that Section 144 of the CrPC (prohibition on gathering of four or more people) has been imposed in the entire city.

“Curfew has been imposed in three areas of the city, including Talab Chowk and Tawdi,” he said. There were minor arson incidents after stone pelting, he said.

With regard to the Ram Navami procession, Khargone Additional Collector Sumersingh Mujalde said that when it started from Talab Chowk area near the district headquarters, the gathering was pelted with stones, prompting the police to fire tear gas shells to control the situation. Fallen.

The procession was supposed to circumnavigate Khargone town, but it was abandoned after violence, in which some policemen and civilians were injured, the collector informed, as reported by PTI.

The Khargone SP suffered a leg injury and was admitted to a private hospital.

A police officer said, “The SP has a leg injury. He is fine.”

The incident is being further investigated.
