It is true what they say, what goes around comes around. In an amusing turn of events in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri, a retired government official was summoned by the police to identify a pair of slippers he reported as missing from outside a temple seven years ago.
Mahendra Kumar Dubey, who had retired as an Assistant Director in the Fisheries Department, visited the Sanwaria Seth Temple in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district back in 2017. At that time, his shoes were stolen, prompting him to file a written complaint at Mansafiya police station on January 14, 2017.
The case was filed and eventually forgotten. However, recently, Dubey received an unexpected call from the police station. Constable Khubchand informed him that several pairs of stolen shoes from the temple premises had been recovered and requested him to identify his missing shoes.

The reason for this surprising call was that Dubey had read in a newspaper about a judge’s son whose shoes were also stolen from the same temple. Acting on this information, Dubey wrote a letter to the police station, attaching his old theft complaint from seven years ago. As a result, he received the call to identify his shoes.
Now, Dubey finds himself in a dilemma. The cost of travelling to the police station to reclaim his missing shoes exceeds the value of the shoes themselves.
