MP Govt’s Rs 3.14 Lakh Crore Budget: Provision To Pay Farmer’s Debt, 33% Allocated for Women | Check Deets Here

The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday presented its first paperless budget with a focus on populist schemes for the welfare of the state’s women, farmers and youth ahead of the year-end assembly elections. MP’s Finance Minister Jagdish Deora presented a state budget of over Rs 3.14 lakh crore amid protests from Congress over LPG price hike.

Finance Minister Deora called it a ‘public budget’ and said that an effort has been made to incorporate public suggestions from various sectors in preparing the budget.

He said that keeping in mind the objective of Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh, the “Atmanirbhar MP” budget has been prepared in mission mode.

Major announcements of Madhya Pradesh Budget 2023:

▶ No new tax was announced in the budget.

▶ Deora announced a provision of Rs 8,000 crore for Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s flagship scheme Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana. The scheme will be launched in the state from March 5, under which women will be given assistance of Rs 1,000 per month with certain riders including that they are not income tax payers, according to a government official.

▶The budget also has a provision of Rs 36,950.16 crore for Scheduled Tribes (sub-plan), Rs 2,60,86.81 crore for Scheduled Castes (sub-plan), Rs 11,406 crore for establishment of government primary schools and Rs 7,332 crore Is. For Jal Jeevan Mission under National Rural Drinking Water Mission.

▶ The government also decided to repay the loan of defaulter farmers. Farmers can take advantage of Kisan Samman Nidhi to get financial assistance of Rs 10,000 every year. A budget of Rs 3,200 crore was allocated for the CM Kisan Kalyan Yojana.

▶ Rs 11,500 crore has been set aside for irrigation schemes in the budget

Besides this, there is a provision of Rs 6,935 crore for assistance and Rs 6,728 crore for middle schools to carry out necessary reforms as per the 15th Finance Commission (report), the minister said.

▶Madhya Pradesh government will also provide e-scooties to girls (those who have passed first division in class 12th exam) under Mukhyamantri Balika Scooty Yojana to encourage them to pursue higher education.

▶ The total appropriation amount in the budget is Rs 3,14,024.84 crore, which is 13 percent more than the previous year, and the total net expenditure in the budget is Rs 2,81,553.62 crore.

▶Mentioning the estimated revenue receipts, Deora said, “The estimated revenue receipts are Rs 2,25,709.90 crore, which includes the state’s own tax amount of Rs 86,499.98 crore, the state’s share of central taxes Rs 80,183.67 crore, non-tax revenue Rs Are. 14,913.10 crore and grant-in-aid received from the Center Rs.44,113.15 crore.”

Meanwhile, Congress members including former ministers Tarun Bhanot, Vijay Laxmi Sadho and Jitu Patwari created ruckus in the House over the LPG price hike issue the moment Deora began reading out the budget proposals.

Later, Congress members led by former Chief Minister Kamal Nath staged a walkout from the House.
