MP Assembly Speaker to go on week-long cycle tour in his constituency, denies link to fuel prices

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam has announced one week cycle Travel in his hometown Rewa since October 24 but denied that the gesture had anything to do with the rising prices of petrol and diesel.

Speaking to News18, Gautam, who will relax the protocol given to the speaker during his Travel, said that the cycle as a mode of transport has made it easier for the masses to reach. He said it was his duty to look after the people who elected him to the assembly. Gautam is a senior BJP MLA from Devtalab constituency of Rewa.

“If I had paid attention to the entire state, my own people could have been neglected. It is important to take care of the issues in my constituency. I think public representatives should exercise their rights to address public issues in their constituencies,” he said.

After the recent hike in fuel prices, petrol in Bhopal was selling at Rs 115.50 per liter, while diesel was priced at Rs 104.52 per liter on Friday.
