Police officials said that on June 15, 455 people were arrested in a day for drunken driving in Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district, 181 in Noida, 224 in Central Noida and 50 in Greater Noida. A case was registered against him. He told that on Tuesday (June 14) this action was taken during the inspection in all the three police zones of the district- Noida, Central Noida and Greater Noida.
“As per the instructions of Commissioner of Police Alok Singh, DCPs, Additional DCPs, ACPs and SHOs of all the areas marched on foot in their respective areas, inspecting metro stations, malls, markets and other busy areas. Congested places, A police spokesman said.
The spokesman said that during the process vehicles and suspicious looking people were also checked, due to which police officials punished 455 people who were found to be driving their cars or two wheelers in violation of road traffic rules.
In a similar drive, the police had on Monday (June 13) punished 155 people for driving under the influence of alcohol. During patrolling, the police officers also interacted with the general public and appealed to them to maintain peace and avoid rumors or provocative posts on social media in the wake of violent communal protests in parts of the state last week.
