More than 1,000 Covid cases in Mumbai. 496 infections registered in Delhi, highest after 4 June

New Delhi: Delhi and Mumbai saw a sharp rise in the number of new coronavirus cases on Tuesday.

In the last 24 hours, 496 fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported in the national capital, the highest since June 4, with one person losing his life due to the dreaded infection, PTI reported. On June 4, 523 cases of Kovid-19 were reported in Delhi.

According to PTI, the positivity rate in Delhi rose to 0.89%, the highest since May 31. The positivity rate as on May 31 was 0.99%.

The cumulative case tally rose to 14,44,179. According to PTI, the death toll due to Covid-19 in Delhi rose to 25,107.

Coronavirus in Maharashtra: Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 2,172 fresh Covid-19 cases, 1,098 recoveries and 22 deaths. The number of active cases in the state is 11,492.

No fresh case of Omicron type reported in Maharashtra today; So far, 167 omicron Cases have been reported in the state.

Today 1,377 new cases were reported in Mumbai, 338 were cured and 1 death occurred.

Yellow Alert in Delhi: Night curfew under GRAP from 10 pm to 5 am – Know what is open, what is closed

In view of the increasing cases of Kovid-19 in Delhi, the state government has implemented a yellow alert under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

CM Arvind Kejriwal announced the closure of schools, colleges, cinema halls and gyms with immediate effect. However, industries will remain open and construction work will continue.

After the new restrictions were imposed by the Delhi government, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that no standing passengers would be allowed in metro trains, i.e. only up to 50 per cent seating capacity.
