In the third week of the monsoon session of Parliament, 8 bills were passed amid uproar by opposition parties. This increased the working of the House. It rose to 24.20% from 13.70% in the second week. The first week of the session which started on July 19 saw the highest performance of 32.20%. In the third week, 21 hours, 36 minutes were wasted due to the uproar.

A Rajya Sabha official said that in the three weeks of the monsoon session so far, the House has done a total of 22.60% work. In the 8 bills that have been passed, the House took 3 hours and 25 minutes.

Out of 78.30 hours, 60.28 hours were wasted in the uproar.
For the third week, out of the 28.30 hours fixed for the Rajya Sabha, 1.41 hours of work was done. Out of the total 78.30 hours, 60.28 hours were wasted in the uproar since the start of the session. A total of 17.44 hours worked in three weeks. The Bills were discussed for 4.49 hours and the Question Hour went on for 3.19 hours. Issues related to Corona were discussed for 4.37 hours. During the nine sittings of the Rajya Sabha in the first two weeks, the Question Hour lasted only 1.38 hours.

Bill passed without debate
Due to the uproar in both the houses, many bills were passed without debate. This is not good for a healthy democracy. The Speaker of the House also repeatedly reminded the MPs, but it did not seem to have any significant effect. Some opposition leaders also opposed the practice.

68 members of 17 parties took part in the discussion on the bills
According to the data, 68 Members of Parliament from 17 political parties participated in the discussion on Bills in the Rajya Sabha last week. The nominees and the total members of these 17 parties constitute 87% of the existing total members of the Rajya Sabha. While the members of Trinamool Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal, who are creating ruckus on various issues, constitute less than 6% in the Rajya Sabha.

Discussions on the bills include AIADMK, Aam Aadmi Party, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM), DMK, Janata Dal United (JDU), Nationalist Members of Congress Party (NCP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), RPI, Shiv Sena, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), TMC, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and YSR Congress took part.

Opposition does not want to allow Parliament to function: Central Government
The proceedings are being disrupted every day since the start of the monsoon session. Other opposition parties, including the Congress, are creating a ruckus on the issues of espionage, three new agricultural laws and inflation. They are demanding a discussion on these issues. Whereas the government says that the opposition does not want to allow Parliament to function.

Work done for 18 hours in first and second week
In the first and second week of the monsoon session, both the houses could function for only 18 hours, which should have been 107 hours. The Lok Sabha worked for 7 hours and the Rajya Sabha for 11 hours. Taxpayers have suffered a loss of more than Rs 133 crore due to non-functioning.
