Monsoon ahead in Gangetic Bengal, neighboring states, heavy rain likely in next 2 days

With the onset of monsoon over West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places on Monday and Tuesday.

The Southwest Monsoon reached most parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar on Sunday, forecasting heavy rains in the next two days, the Meteorological Department said. The meteorologist said that the conditions are favorable for further advance of the monsoon into the remaining parts of Bengal and Jharkhand in the next three days.

The Meteorological Department said that with the onset of monsoon, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand on Monday and Tuesday. The weather has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

There is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms and thundershowers over Kolkata in the next few days. On Sunday, the city remained cloudy throughout the day and there was light rain once or twice.
