Modi government’s political problem increased after the withdrawal of agriculture law? , ICH (22 November 2021)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi graciously acknowledged that perhaps there were shortcomings in his government’s efforts to explain the benefits of agricultural laws, which would free farmers to sell their produce however they want, to opposing sections of farmers. The agricultural law, intended to benefit the poorest and most vulnerable small farmers, who constitute the vast majority of the agricultural population, faced severe opposition from some groups of large farmers in Punjab and western Uttar Pradesh. However, the Prime Minister, accompanied by the commendable statesman, announced that he would not proceed with laws in the event of such protests, and would work towards building a consensus.
