Modi expressed grief over the disruption in Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed displeasure over the ongoing disruption in both houses of Parliament, and criticized the opposition for their “arrogance”. He was addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting here on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said the BJP MPs welcomed the Centre’s decision to implement 27 per cent quota for OBC students in medical and dental colleges under the central quota.

Joshi said Modi, referring to a tweet by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien that the Center is pushing bills like making papdi chaat, said it was an insult to those who elected MPs.

“The prime minister expressed displeasure. Making ‘papri chaat’ was a derogatory remark. It is arrogance to tear the papers, throw them and not apologise,” Joshi said.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan said Modi also pointed out the meeting in July as GST collection of Rs 1.16 lakh crore. He said, “Parliament is being insulted by the acts of the opposition in both the houses. The person who snatched the paper and tore it, does not regret his actions. A senior MP’s statement regarding the passing of bills” The remarks made are derogatory,” he said.
