Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee chairman Ajendra Ajay on Sunday inaugurated Reliance Jio’s mobile and data services on the Kedarnath trek route. With this Reliance Jio has become the first operator to offer mobile and data connectivity on the trek route between Gaurikund and Himalaya Teerth, the telecom firm said in a statement.

It said that the pilgrims visiting the temple will now remain connected with their loved ones through voice or video calls. Reliance Jio’s statement said that with a large number of pilgrims visiting the Char Dham Yatra this year, Jio has expanded its network on the Kedarnath trek route to give a better mobile connectivity experience to the devotees. After a gap of two years, during which the yatra was disrupted due to the COVID pandemic, this year there is a huge influx of pilgrims to the Himalayan temples. The firm said that as per the plan to install five towers between Gaurikund and Kedarnath, a full capacity tower has been installed at a very important stop point at Sonprayag.

It added that three towers at Choti Lincholi, Lincholi and Rudrapoint have already been installed and the remaining two will be erected soon. Ten additional solutions are being introduced and fiber links have been given to mobile networks for seamless connectivity for pilgrims on the route, the firm further said.
