MLC election results: 12 Shiv Sena MLAs including Eknath Shinde ‘rebel’ against Uddhav government

Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, with 10-12 MLAs, has been ‘out of reach’ since Monday’s Legislative Council elections, sparking rumors of rebellion within the party. The development comes amid allegations of cross-voting by some Shiv Sena MLAs. Shiv Sena’s ‘missing’ MLA is believed to be hiding in a hotel in Gujarat’s Surat along with Shinde. Security has been beefed up outside the hotel and no one is being allowed to enter. Shinde is likely to address media persons from Surat at around 2 pm on Tuesday. Sources close to Shinde said he has the support of 20 MLAs from western Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. View full report here.
