Aizawl: Mizoram The state ranked second among the states with the highest daily caseloads since February 22 (except for a few days), even as Covid infections fell to 494 in the last 24 hours.
The state also ranked third among the states with the most active cases. The active cases in the state stood at 2,379 at 5 pm on Tuesday, while the casualties rose to 672. The test positivity rate (TPR) in the last 24 hours stood at 14.51 per cent as compared to the national average of 0.37%.
Mizoram contributed the highest number of 94.46% of the total daily cases among the northeastern states in the last 24 hours, with the other seven states recording only 29 infections.
However, the recovery rate has steadily improved and stood at 98.62% at 5 pm on Tuesday, with 2,18,417 patients having been cured out of a total of 2,21,468 infected people.
Meanwhile, the Mizoram Kohran Hruetute Committee, a grouping of 16 major church denominations, recently wrote to Chief Minister Zoramthanga asking him not to implement the church service guidelines. The committee asked Zoramthanga, who is also the chairman of the Mizoram State Disaster Management Authority, to allow churches to frame their own guidelines for conducting services.
