AIZAWL: Eight northeastern states, after reporting the highest number of new Covid-19 cases for more than two months, topped Mizoram Has come down to second place below Assam.
In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 165 fewer daily cases than Assam on Monday, which recorded 212 fresh cases.
With the number of cases coming down, the state started the process of unlocking from Sunday and will be in force till the end of November. After a hiatus of almost six months, schools reopened from Monday for class 10 and 12 students, who would appear for the board examinations.
The state contributed 32.54% to the total number of daily cases reported in the Northeast region, which is the lowest in the last two months. But it contributed 61.31 per cent of the active cases in the region till Monday morning, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
