Mizoram-Assam border dispute: The issue will be resolved through talks, says CM Zoramthanga

After the Assam-Mizoram border dispute, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that the dispute between the two states will be resolved amicably through talks and talks. He gave this message after having telephonic discussions with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

CM Zoramthanga tweeted on Sunday, “As per the telephonic discussion with the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister of Assam, we have agreed to resolve the Mizoram-Assam border issue through meaningful dialogue.”

The Mizoram Chief Minister also appealed to the people of his state to refrain from posting any sensitive messages. He further suggested to make judicious use of social media platforms to prevent further deterioration and worsening of the situation.

After the death of 5 Assam Police personnel on the Assam-Mizoram border on 26 July, the blame game started from both the states.

The Chief Ministers of both the states had also earlier urged the Union Home Minister to look into the matter.

The Assam government had recently issued an advisory suggesting people to refrain from traveling to Mizoram, while an FIR was later registered against the Assam chief minister and several other high-ranking officials of the state.
