Mithila Devika is a renowned Indian classical dancer in Kerala. She is well known for her effortless dance performances and has showcased her talent at various prestigious functions worldwide. She has been a popular name in the state and has a huge fan base. Now, the dancer is all set to make her acting debut in a film.
Mithila Devika will be seen in National Award-winning director Vishnu Mohan’s upcoming film, titled Kadha Innuvare. Mithila will be playing the female lead in the film, opposite popular Malayalam actor Biju Menon. According to the latest report, the film will hit theatres on the occasion of Onam. But there is no official update yet. Meanwhile, in a recent media interaction, Mithila Devika shared her experience of working on her debut film, which is currently garnering everyone’s attention.
Mithila said, “Many people asked me why I didn’t act when I got many opportunities long ago. I was not interested then. I felt that it was not comfortable. This time I said yes because I felt this team is good now. The script and the money are all after that for me.”
She also added, “It was a comfortable team making this film. It is the duty of the team leading it to create the working environment that a woman expects. It was the main reason I accepted this film.”
Earlier, director Vishnu Mohan, who bagged the Nation Award for Meppadiyan, took to social media to announce Mithila Devika as the lead actress of his upcoming film Kadha Innuvare. He posted a picture of the actress and wrote (as translated from Malayalam), “The search for an aged heroine came to a unique talent in the classical dance field called Methil Devika. Me and cameraman Jomon T. John went and presented the matter in person. A big no, as expected, was the answer. Though she liked the story in the first meeting itself, she kept her stand on not working in films. After a year of continuous efforts, finally, the yes came with a lot of conditions. So, Methil Devika is appearing as the heroine with Biju Menon in my second movie, Katha Innuvare. The film is currently being shot. I am really glad and proud to introduce Methil Devika to the big screen.”
Apart from Biju Menon and Mithila Devika, the film also stars Nikhila Vimal, Siddique, Renji Panicker, Anusree, and Kottayam Ramesh in other pivotal roles.
