There is one such actress who has worked in both films and TV and has played the role of the lead star’s sister or friend. She once got a chance to play the lead role in a South African film. But the actress turned down this film due to one condition.
The actress, graduating from the National School of Drama (NSD), entered the film world in 1987 with the film Var Var Vari. But she came into the limelight after appearing in the 1989 film Chandni. Can you recognise the actress?
The actress is none other than Mita Vashisht. The talented actress debuted with Sridevi’s film Chandni, in which she played the role of Chandni’s friend. Recently, Mita made a shocking revelation in an interview session regarding her career, which is currently garnering everyone’s attention.
The actress said that once she was offered the lead role in a South film, but when she met the director, he put forward an absurd condition. The actress said, ‘He put a condition in front of me that I should stay with him for two months. But I did not compromise and said, keep your role and I went away. I rejected that offer at that very moment.’
Putting her point forward, Mita said, ‘Initially, the actress’s English was not very good. So, she thought that the director was asking her to stay in Chennai to learn the language. But when she came to know that he was asking her to compromise, she became suspicious, and without thinking, she immediately rejected the offer.”
After the superhit film Chandni, directed and co-produced by Yash Chopra, she never looked back. Mita worked on other popular projects like Drohkaal, Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, Patalghar, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, and Rahasya, to name a few.
Apart from films, she has also been part of various TV shows like the sci-fi television series Space City Sigma (1989–1991), Pachpan Khambe Laal Deewarein, Swabhimaan, Alaan (Kirdaar), Trishna in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, and Jethi Maa in Kaala Teeka.
