Sources said that to woo women voters, Congress may announce to give 33% tickets to women.

In-charge General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra herself has taken the lead for the return of Congress in Uttar Pradesh. After the start of the campaign on October 10 in Varanasi, Priyanka Gandhi gave a decision in the working committee meeting on Saturday that she is now moving her headquarters to Lucknow. Presenting the blueprint of the election strategy, she told that she will remain in Uttar Pradesh till the elections are held. Will cover five districts every week.

According to information received from sources close to Priyanka Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi herself is going to contest the election. A close aide of her said, she can contest from both the East and West areas in the state. Of these, one seat will be from Varanasi, while the seat of Western Uttar Pradesh is yet to be selected. Sheila Kaul’s bungalow in Lucknow is being converted into Priyanka’s war-room. This is where the election strategy will operate.

Priyanka’s staff is shifting from Delhi to Lucknow. It is said that on November 14, Kaul Niwas will be duly declared as the Congress election headquarters. The way Priyanka Gandhi took charge after the recent violence in Lakhimpur, the party has hope for new energy among the workers.

Sources said that to woo women voters, Congress may announce to give 33% tickets to women. Sanjay Kumar, a political analyst with the Center for the Study of Developing Societies, says the Congress, which brings less than 10 per cent vote share, is unlikely to come back. Congress’s bet on farmer vote bank in Uttar Pradesh is not going to give any benefit.
