Mishra: Dabur’s Karva Chauth ad row: Company takes down ad with gay couple after MP minister’s warning – Times of India

New Delhi: Dabur India Limited The ad was withdrawn on Tuesday and apologized for showing a gay couple celebrating a Hindu festival. Karwa Chauth. This comes a day after the home minister of Madhya Pradesh Narottam Mishra Expressed his strong objection against the Karva Chauth campaign of Fame and said that legal action will be taken if the advertisement is not withdrawn by the consumer goods manufacturer.
The company posted on Twitter, “The Karva Chauth campaign of Fame has been withdrawn from all social media handles and we apologize unconditionally for inadvertently hurting the sentiments of the people.”

Mishra had directed the state police chief to apprise Dabur India To withdraw an “objectionable” beauty product ad that featured a same-sex couple celebrating Karva Chauth And looking at each other through a sieve.
On Karva Chauth, married women, especially in North India, observe a fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands. Karva Chauth was celebrated on Sunday.
“I consider it a serious matter. This is because such advertisements and clippings are made only on the rituals of Hindu festivals. They (advertisements) showed homosexuals celebrating Karva Chauth and looking at each other with a sieve. In future, they will show two men taking ‘phera’ (marrying each other as per Hindu rituals). This is objectionable.” Mishra told reporters.
The state home minister said that he has directed the DGP (Director General of Police) to ask the company to withdraw the advertisement. “And if it fails to do so, take legal action after examining the ad,” he added.
