President Draupadi Murmu said that women should get more support from the family so that they can reach the highest position in their career without any hindrance.

President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday said the mindset that it is the responsibility of women to raise children and run the household needs to be changed, while noting that despite their increasing participation, they do not rise above a certain level due to family responsibilities.

To inaugurate a National Conference on ‘Women as the Foundation of a Value-Based Society’ and launch all India Speaking at an awareness campaign ‘Empowering the Family’ at the Om Shanti Retreat Center of Brahma Kumaris, Gurugram, he said that women have played a very important role in shaping the values ​​and ethics in the Indian society.

Appreciating the Brahma Kumaris organization for reviving Indian values ​​by keeping women at the center, Murmu said that it is the world’s largest spiritual institution run by women and more than 46,000 sisters of this organization have been promoting spirituality and Indian culture for almost 140 years. He said that when women get equal opportunities, they perform at par with men and sometimes better than them in every field.

He said that the participation of women is increasing in many fields. However, many of them have not been able to reach the top position. The president attributed family responsibilities as the main reason behind women not being able to participate above a certain level in the private sector.

“Usually working women have to shoulder the responsibility of home as well as office. We need to change the mindset that raising children and running the household is only the responsibility of women.”

Murmu said that women should get more support from the family so that they can reach the top position in their career without any hindrance.

He said that only by the empowerment of women, families will become strong and only strong families will build a strong society and a strong nation.

Murmu also cautioned against the rat race for money, power, fame and prestige and underlined that there is nothing wrong in being financially sound, but it is not advisable to live only for money.

“Economic progress and material prosperity may give us material happiness, but not eternal peace. Spiritual life opens the door to divine bliss,” he said.

The President urged mothers to inspire their children from childhood to become good human beings instead of making them career conscious.

He said that a mother never discriminates between her children and she is the first teacher of the family who not only introduces the child to the family members and environment but also inculcates the prevailing values ​​in the child.

“Therefore, mothers need to educate their children with the right values,” he added.

“A family can become an ideal family with the efforts of a mother. If every family becomes an ideal family then the nature of the society will automatically change. Our society can become a value-based society,” the President said.
