The military training of the first batch of Agniveers has begun at the Punjab Regimental Center (PRC) in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district. A senior officer of the regiment gave this information on Tuesday.

PRC, one of the oldest regiments of the Indian Army, devised a scientifically driven approach to imparting slow but rigorous military training to young ‘Agniveers’.

The training program at the PRC, which began on January 2, has been interspersed with activities to improve the physical and mental endurance of the trainees, the PRC said in a statement.

Agniveer is well aware of his responsibilities

The statement added that the PRC is fully prepared and aware of the onerous responsibility given to it to organize young ‘Agniveers’ and to inculcate them into a disciplined group of ‘soldier citizens’, who will also form an important component. “Nation Building Process”.

The regimental and Indian Army ethos and traditions imbibed by a soldier are the driving force behind selfless service to the nation. Keeping this in mind, the training curriculum is aimed at maturing the ‘Agniveers’ into young soldiers with these values ​​during their journey, the PRC statement said.

The Defense Ministry had unveiled the ‘Agneepath’ scheme in June 2022, a pan-India merit-based recruitment program for enrollment of soldiers, airmen and sailors.

Under the scheme, ‘Agnivars’ will be recruited between the age of 17.5 to 21 years.

They will be provided an opportunity to serve as ‘Agniveer’ in the Armed Forces for a period of four years including the training period.
