Prayagraj: Covering a major Milestone In the COVID-19 vaccination drive, Sangam city crossed the 50 lakh dose mark on Thursday.
Notably, about 33% of the target recipients have so far taken both doses of the vaccine in the district.
With 25,537 more jabs being given to eligible recipients on Thursday, the total number of jabs administered so far against Covid-19 reached the mark of 50,06,990.
With 77% of target recipients taking the first dose, their number has grown to over 3.5 million.
Health department officials have set a target to vaccinate around 45,16,437 people, which includes 31 lakh people in the age group of 18 to 44 years and 13.17 lakh people above 45 years. According to the latest data of the Health Department, till December 16, 50,06,990 Kovid-19 shots have been given to the beneficiaries of all age groups in the district.
While 35.14 lakh people have taken the first dose, 14.76 lakh people have taken the second dose.
District Immunization Officer (DIO) and Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr Tirath Lal told TOI, “After giving over 50 lakh jabs to eligible recipients so far, we have reached a milestone. We are making sincere efforts to achieve the target and increase the number of recipients in urban, semi-urban and rural areas. The vaccination drive has been intensified and all remaining eligible recipients are being covered.
In addition, about 46% of elderly recipients (above 45 years of age) in Sangam city are fully vaccinated, while the number of fully vaccinated recipients between 18-44 years of age is 39%.
Similarly, about 76% of elderly recipients (over 45 years of age) took the first dose, while the percentage of recipients under 45 who took the first dose was 72%.
Against an estimated population of recipients (14,67,918) above 45 years of age in Sangam City, over 5.16 lakh recipients have been fully vaccinated, while 11.17 lakh have taken the first dose.
Similarly, against an estimated population of recipients (31,42,718) in the age group of 18 to 45 years, over 22.69 lakh have taken the first dose, while 8.88 lakh have been fully vaccinated.
Sangam city has achieved a major milestone in COVID-19 vaccination and so far more than 50.06 lakh doses have been administered across the district, with around 77% of the city’s total targeted recipients (45.16 lakh) getting the Covid-19 vaccine. While about 31.7 per cent have received both doses, health officials said.
While more than 97% of HCWs (health care workers) have taken the first dose, 82% of HCWs are fully vaccinated. In addition, 97% of FLWs (front line workers) have taken the first dose, 76% of them are fully vaccinated.
