The tech brass said in a tweet, “Dear @MicrosoftIndia employees, just reminding you to take a break, get off work, spend time with your loved ones, and get back to work feeling refreshed and energized. Your well being is important!”

This comes in light of the pandemic and lockdown-induced work-from-home situation in which workers across the world find themselves. Microsoft is leaving no stone unturned in its endeavor to gain the trust of employees in these difficult times.

everyone gets a bonus

According to a report in The Verge, the tech giant also offered a pandemic bonus for all its employees. The company is apparently offering a $1,500 bonus, according to an internal memo accessed by The Verge. The reason behind this- it was recognition of the challenges brought in this financial year.

The reward was announced by Kathleen Hogan, Chief People Officer (CPO) of Microsoft. This will be applicable to all eligible employees around the world, given that these employees fall below the Corporate Vice President level and if they have started on or before March 31, 2021, as per the report.

It follows a similar trend that big industry giants are doing. Companies like Facebook and Amazon have also issued such bonuses to their employees in the last one year. Facebook offered a $1,000 bonus to its roughly 45,000 employees, while Amazon offered a $300 cash bonus to frontline employees.

Since the start of the pandemic, Microsoft has been able to generate massive amounts of revenue thanks to its diverse digital spaces due to the increase in home use by people stuck in lockdown. Rise in laptop use, Windows use and Xbox lent to the tech giant’s profit margins. The company also provided nearly $98 million in aid to non-profit organizations in Washington state, the report said. Microsoft has further delayed the opening of its physical offices till September this year.
