Microsoft Corp said on Wednesday that it was cutting substantially its business in Russia, joining companies that are reducing their exposure or exiting the country after the invasion of Ukraine.

(Reuters) – Microsoft Corp said on Wednesday that it was cutting substantially its business in Russia, joining companies that are reducing their exposure or exiting the country after the Ukraine invasion .
However, the company said it would fulfill its existing contractual obligations with Russian customers while the suspension of new sales it announced earlier in March is in effect.

“As a result of the change in the economic outlook and the impact on our business in Russia, we have made the decision to significantly reduce our operations in Russia,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
Bloomberg News, which first reported the news employees will be affected.
Several major companies including Apple Inc, Nike and Dell Technologies have severed ties with Russia.
