Michael Alf has been dominating a professional journey that has lasted over 30 years. Born in Kiel, Germany, he has worked diligently through the years to create an admirable career. Alf started with the German Armed Forces as a captain. Later, he worked with Capgemini, first in Europe and then in Australia.
He has held several executive roles that taught him much about the world of business and tech, which influenced his path to entrepreneurship. Today, Alf is a top-selling author, high-performance coach, and founder and CEO of New World’s Events, catering to events in an online or hybrid fashion. He is among the many people working as digital nomads, managing his business and earning while traveling the world.
The turning points of his career
Everyone experiences different things that will affect their actions and mindset for the long term. For Alf, one of the turning points in his life was his decision to move to Australia in 2008. He had been assigned the prominent role of Vice President at Capgemini. Being able to move to Melbourne with his wife and young daughters, who were 9 and 11 at the time, for a new job significantly propelled his career.
Another significant time in his life was in 2011 when he decided to leave his corporate career. Many people begin their careers and then leave the traditional work environment for other endeavors. After working for many years in various positions in the corporate world, and while it was not easy, Alf gave his farewell and started on what he calls a journey of ups and downs, which would come over the next few years.
The third situation that made things shift in Alf’s life occurred at the start of 2020 when he decided to focus on doing digital and hybrid events for his clients. After many years working in corporate and acquiring a great skillset, Alf was now equipped to lead a successful business. He found value in the previous lessons he had learned and the many experiences in the professional and technology sectors. This includes acting globally, building and running remote teams, focusing on sales and customer services, and winning key stakeholders to support the business.
Alf was able to create a business in a few years, and he says that he likes to compare the situation with the famous statement, “The overnight success that took ten years.”
New World Events continues to grow
Alf is proud of his success with his company, where he has impacted many people across Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. He is also happy that his venture enables him to combine his interest in technology, business, and people.
New World Events aims to meet customers’ event planning needs in a digital space. This is especially important now when people cannot gather in person due to the global pandemic. Alf is happy to provide a safe way to have events online or in a hybrid format.
