The Mumbai Indians will face the Lucknow Super Giants in their last IPL clash of the 2024 season. The Hardik Pandya-led side has failed to show up at the tournament, conceding one of the worst campaigns in the club’s history. The season began with three straight defeats for the five-time champions. Mumbai failed to recover after the shocking start, continuing their poor form deeper into the tournament. In their previous IPL clash, Mumbai faced the Kolkata Night Riders at the Eden Gardens. The match began with MI winning the toss and bowling first. In the first half, they curbed Kolkata at 157/7, putting themselves in the driving seat for a victory. However, Mumbai’s batting line-up couldn’t find their form, managing just 139 runs at the innings’ end.
Mumbai Indians’ final IPL game against the Lucknow Super Giants will be played on May 17 at the Wankhede Stadium. Lucknow also hasn’t had the best of campaigns in 2024. After conceding some early losses, the KL Rahul side had sprung back to form mid-season. Yet, they were unable to maintain that consistency, eventually losing a decisive game against the Delhi Capitals in their previous fixture. In that match, Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma put up a stellar bowling performance that halted Lucknow 19 runs shy of winning the match. They will now also be looking to win the final game of their season against Mumbai next.
