MHA declares JeM cadre Ali Kashif Jan as designated terrorist, third such designation in 5 days

India has declared Ali Kashif Jan, a member of Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) as a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, who was involved in the terror attack on the Pathankot Air Force Station. Jaan alias Jaan Ali Kashif is the third terrorist who has been declared a terrorist by the Center in the last five days.

According to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Jan is an accused in various cases and is under investigation by the National Investigation Agency, including the 2016 terrorist attack on the Pathankot Air Force Station.

The MHA notification said, “Ali Kashif Jaan continues to serve from the launching units of Jaish based in Pakistan and is involved in the recruitment of cadres for its training and coordinates the planning of attacks on targets in India.”

Born on 30 January 1982, Jaan hails from Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He is the operational commander and is part of the core planning committee of Jaish-e-Mohammed, which is listed as a terrorist organisation, the MHA said. Jan was the handler of the terror attack on the Pathankot Air Force Station in January 2016, in which seven security personnel and a civilian were killed.
