A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly opening fire at a bar in Mexico’s San Luis Rio Colorado city that killed 11 people, while he was expelled from Mexico’s Sonora state for being rude to women, according to authorities.

Authorities said the suspect threw a Molotov cocktail in a drunken state after being kicked out of the Beer House bar on Saturday, causing a major fire. The fire killed seven men and four women, while four others were hospitalized, according to a statement from the Sonora state attorney general’s office.

Many of the injured persons were taken across the border to hospitals in the United States for treatment. This bar is located very close to the US-Mexican border.

The mayor of San Luis Rio Colorado tweeted on Saturday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the arson, but has not yet been named.

The suspect was allegedly harassing women before being removed from the bar. “According to multiple witness versions, a young, male-looking individual was disrespectful to women in that bar and was ejected,” said a statement from the Sonoran Attorney General’s office.

“The investigation is ongoing to clarify the facts, establish responsibilities, and bring justice to those making the request, as no one is above the law in Sonora,” the statement said.
