Meta stops working on its dual camera smartwatch, to focus on wearables

Meta has decided to stop working on its alleged dual-camera smartwatch. As per the latest report, the company is focusing on wearables, but this product might never see the light. The smartwatch is codenamed Milan by the company, and sports a large display with two cameras, Meta was supposed to launch this product to rival the Apple Watch, but that doesn’t seem possible now.

report from bloomberg Citing sources, who now claim that Meta will instead focus on developing wrist wearables that can resemble a regular fitness band. Meta hasn’t officially shared product details, or its decision to end development of this smartwatch.

But the report suggests that Meta could focus on profitable avenues and cut its costs, which became apparent when it decided to stop hiring at the company, and even That closed some divisions too. The smartwatch was tipped to release this year and Meta was expected to cost the device around $349 (roughly Rs.27,100), as previously reported by multiple reports.

And even though Milan smartwatch plans have been shelved, Meta could eventually make use of the features and even some of the technology it’s developed on other wearable products in the future. The camera of this smartwatch was going to help in many ways.
