Canada is experiencing extreme weather conditions, with the mercury dropping to minus 50 degrees Celsius, causing deep freezing conditions in and around the ski hills in Edmonton, the capital of Canada’s Alberta province.

Reports said cities including Sunrise, Edmonton Ski Club, Snow Valley and Rabbit Hill announced extreme cold shutdowns.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extreme cold and forecast the temperature to be minus -40 to -50 degree Celsius in the coming days.

Winter sports have also been called off for a few days during the holiday season as long as cold conditions persist.
