While the majority of female respondents (79.3 percent) said their first period was 12 years or older, 63.1 percent of women said they knew girls who had just started their periods, of whom 37.5 percent were girls. 11 years of age or less.

The survey findings also questioned the phrase ‘those five days’, with less than a third (30.3 percent) of women having periods for five days a month.

At least 22.8 percent of women had periods for 3 days or less, while 1.8 percent of women had periods lasting more than eight days each month. The survey was conducted by a feminine hygiene brand.
