Mehbooba Mufti Blames Govt For Killing Of Kashmiri Pandit ATM Gaurd in J&K

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday (February 26) condemned the killing of Kashmiri Pandit ATM guard and said that it is a complete failure of the government. Attacking the government, the PDP chief said, “Such incidents are being used by a particular political party to defame Muslims and gain political mileage.” He further said that there are some minority community members left in the Kashmir Valley who have not left the place despite adverse conditions and targeting them is completely unacceptable and condemnable.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the killing and expressed condolences to the family of the deceased. ”Deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Sanjay Pandit of Achan in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Sanjay was working as a bank security guard and got killed in a terrorist attack this morning. I unequivocally condemn this attack and express my condolences to their loved ones.

Terrorists shot dead a bank security guard, identified as Sanjay Sharma, from Achan area of ​​Pulwama district in South Kashmir. Police said the terrorists fired at the bank guard who was injured in the incident and later succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Sharma, son of Kashinath Sharma of Achan area of ​​Pulwama. The deceased, who was in his 40s, was living with his family in the same locality. Soon after he was killed, security forces reached the spot and laid a cordon to nab the attackers.

“Terrorists fired at Achan Pulwama r/o Sanjay Sharma s/o Kashinath Sharma, a civilian belonging to minority community while he was going to local market. He was taken to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. There was an armed guard in his village. The area has been cordoned off. Details will follow,” the police tweeted.

Police launched a massive search operation in the area, but the terrorists managed to escape from the site of the attack. Meanwhile, a terrorist organization with the name ‘United Liberation Front’ on social networks has claimed responsibility for the attack, however, it has not been confirmed by any security agencies.

”Sanjay Sharma, a member of the minority community, was shot dead by the terrorists. We are verifying the information and the terrorists involved in the murder will be neutralized soon. We are also ensuring that terrorists are not allowed to succeed in their designs. We have started the investigation and will soon be able to neutralize the terrorists involved in the attack,” said Rais Mohd Bhat, DIG South Kashmir, JK Police.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also strongly condemned the dastardly terrorist attack on Shri Sanjay Kumar Sharma in Pulwama. He said that the administration stands firmly with the victim’s family. “My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The administration has given a free hand to security forces to deal with terrorists and we will continue to combat such acts of terrorism firmly and decisively,” the Lt Governor said.
