Meghalaya has made India proud, says CM Sangma as the state won the best project award at the United Nations World Summit

in the United Nations World The Summit on Information Society Forum 2022, an initiative of the Meghalaya government, received the Best Project award in the category of “Role of Governments in Promotion of ICT for Development” on Tuesday. The initiative was named Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) General Secretary Houlin Zhao presented the winning award to the state Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma during the award ceremony held in Geneva. A total of 360 projects nominated from different countries passed the United Nations jury’s test. A vote was held to select the best 90 projects invited to Geneva for the final prize.

Meghalaya contested the elections along with Australia, China, Argentina and Tanzania. The only project of Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture (MEGHEA) is India To win this year’s winning prize.

The Meghe Project is being implemented by the Planning Department, Government of Meghalaya and has several components such as civil or professional services from the government, employee services from the government and government to government services. The e-Proposal system, a part of the Government-to-Government component, enables faster processing and tracking of schemes. The system replaces the entire administrative approval and sanctions of citizen plans. “Through the use of modern technology, the system integrates multiple departments, directorates and other government agencies. In just two months, around 1,600 proposals have been submitted through this e-proposal system and an amount of Rs 790 crore has been approved. According to an official statement, Parivartan has processed in days which in the previous process used to take months.

Meghalaya government is also making progress towards enabling government to civil and employee services where citizens will be able to view their benefits and apply anytime, from anywhere and through multiple channels.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Sangma congratulated the people of Meghalaya for winning a prestigious award at the WSIS summit and making the country proud of the northeastern state. He also thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi To be believed in Meghalaya to implement India’s first enterprise architecture initiative.

The Chief Minister further said that Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture is all about delivering citizen centric services and transforming the internal processing of schemes with maximum efficiency. “The endeavor of the government is to provide services digitally to the citizens of remote villages also,” he said.

Apart from the Enterprise Architecture project, the state government is also implementing digitally enabled solutions to assist pregnant women, for supply of medicines using drones and for digitization of agriculture.
