Meera Chopra becomes super woman on reel, working in a film on ‘Asexuality’

New Delhi: Popular actress Meera Chopra was seen in critically acclaimed films including “Section 375”, “1920” and Disney Hotstar’s show “Kamathipura”. Her upcoming film ‘Super Woman’ is India’s first film on ‘asexuality’. The first look of another film featuring Meera, titled ‘Safe’, was recently unveiled at the latest edition of the famous Cannes Film Festival.

On ‘Super Woman’, Meera Chopra said, “I was very impressed with the script. The word ‘asexual’ is foreign to Indians. Many women and men struggle to explain to their peers how they feel about it. While researching the film, I found jaw-dropping statistics on the number of suicides and forced marriages of asexual women. This is worrying! With “Super Woman”, we aim to bring a ray of hope to those Those who are struggling to express their real feelings to the society.”

Sharing his thoughts on “Super Woman”, Piyush Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Golden Ratio Films said, “As a production company, GRF has a reputation for producing films that the general public can identify with. Super Woman is a special cinema that throws light on a subject that will resonate widely with discerning audiences.

On the outing of her recent film “Safedas” at the Cannes Film Festival, Mira said, “It was a surreal and overwhelming experience for us. We wore the badge to represent our country and represent the revolution in Indian cinema.’ ‘Surakshit’ is a heartwarming film that captures the true essence of the struggle of widows and transgenders in the society. AR Rahman unveiled the first look of our film, making it all the more special.

Meera further added, “Super Woman” is a tribute to all those superwomen who are defying the social norms. The world needs to know that a woman cannot be defined by her sexuality. ‘Sexual’ or ‘asexual’, every woman has the potential to conquer the world. We are no longer the ‘weaker’ sex. A woman’s greatest strength lies not in her sexuality, it lies in her character, her spirit, and her personality. A woman’s worth goes beyond her sexuality and our film sums it up beautifully. While researching I was stunned to see documentaries in which women were simply underestimated as sexual objects.

‘Super Woman’ is directed by Jagham Imam, who is known globally for his remarkable work and stalwarts like Tigmanshu Dhulia and Poonam Dhillon on the film festival circuit. The film is produced by Golden Ratio Films.
