chipset manufacturer mediatek has announced two new chipsets in its Helio G series for budget Android Smartphones. The new chipsets are Helio G96 and Helio G88. The latest chipsets in the Helio G series offer support for 108MP cameras along with a 120Hz refresh rate panel.
MediaTek Helio G96 The SoC offers support for 120Hz displays with FullHD+ resolution and DDIC supplied, no limitation in C-phy or D-phy interface, and supports both LCD or AMOLED displays. It can support cameras up to 108MP. In terms of connectivity, there is Cat-13 4G LTE Worldmode modem integration, dual 4G SIM and VoLTE and VILTE services.
On the other end, MediaTek Helio G88 SoC Supports 90Hz display. It comes with an octa-core CPU coupled with two Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs clocked up to 2.0GHz. The Helio G88 comes with support for main cameras up to 64MP, a Hardware Depth Engine for dual-camera bokeh capture, a Camera Control Unit (CCU) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) technologies.
In the budget to mid-range segment, both chipsets can be seen in Android phones. Also, both the chips are only 4G-capable and there is no support for 5G.
Meanwhile, for the first time ever, OnePlus will launch a phone with MediaTek chipset alongside the launch of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus Nord 2 5G will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset. Till now, all OnePlus smartphones launched in the country were powered by Qualcomm chipset.
