But this time, Maxwell said that instead of focusing on the sadness of last year, he wanted to “find the beauty in the moment”.
So, he designed his Spring Summer 2022 collection for a casual-chic aesthetic with bold prints in pinks, oranges and greens, plaid board shorts, glitter windbreakers, jackets and trench coats, shiny metallic dresses and tees with mushroom designs. has done. accepted with. “I’m a very casual person,” he said. “I have a pair of shorts under these nice pants that I’m wearing for you.”
Although Maxwell was personally excited to return to the show, he said the experience was bitter.
“It was my first show without my family and most of my friends, so it felt tough,” he said. “Doing the show has always been a family experience for me.”
“But I also have a different family, that’s here,” he said. “And that’s the family I work with and collect.”
Maxwell praised the unsung activists who helped make the show a reality. “People forget that it’s a business, and I think they see a designer at the end of the runway and the model, and don’t think about all the people who come to work every day to make those clothes. are,” he said.
Despite a rough year, Maxwell said he felt genuine joy when he saw the show.
